The Challenge

Busy lifestyles make engaging with live content unnatainable. Balancing a routine includes making sacrifices and leisure time is often the first to get cut.

The Space

Live stream content, largely found on Twitch and YouTube, bring together millions of community members in real-time to watch gripping events as they happen. Live reactions capture genuine moments, closing the gap between creators and viewers unlike any other media.

In order to make live content accessible, audiences need to be able to engage with it on their own terms.

1 in 4 Adults Feel Left Out

Survey respondents who watch live content on Twitch and YouTube feel left behind of the conversation when they join streams after a big moment happens.

42% Take the Time to Catch Up

Keeping up with the chat logs is a part of the routine for nearly half of the respondents. When they join, they start scrolling, getting context on the conversations they missed.

50% Don’t Bother At All

They noted being overwhelmed by the chat. Joining the conversation felt like more like a competition than a way of connecting with other viewers.

“With smaller streamers, you can have a [more] meaningful interaction. [But] with larger streamers, you are just yelling in a classroom where everyone else is yelling - what’s the point?”
